One of the most amazing things about being a full time photographer for the past couple years has been getting to know other photographers. I have to admit-the photography industry is full of some of the most genuine, caring, creative, giving people in the whole world. Everyone is so selfless, so willing to share, to teach, to help, to give of themselves and their art to help others. Whether it be their clients, fellow photographers, or people in need.
This year will mark the 3rd year since well known celebrity photographer, Jeremy Cowart founded the epitome of what most of the people in the photography industry are all about, it’s called Help Portrait. <<<<< Click the link and go read more about it! And this Saturday, December 10th will be the first time Help Portrait has been done in Lubbock. (Thanks to the hard work of some wonderful Lubbock photographers- Katrina Ballentine, Betsy Lacky, Brittany Strebeck, Linda Schilberg, Stuart Blalock, Bruce Smith, Alisa Joy and that’s just naming a few! Sorry I can’t remember everyone! I think there are a total of 24 Lubbock photographers helping out this weekend)
Help Portrait will be this Saturday, December 10th at Firehouse on 1719 Buddy Holly Ave from 11:00am to 1:00pm. If you know anyone who NEEDS this service please pass this information along on your facebook page! Snacks and Drinks will be provided along with some crafts for the kids!
I am so excited and truly thankful for the opportunity to be a part of Help Portrait this year. The end of the year is always so busy and stressful and I’m excited to spend a few hours NOT focusing on myself.
I tried to embed the video-but if it doesn’t load just click on the words help portrait below!
Like I said we are getting ready to do some really fun contests on the blog for all of our sweet clients!! But I want to know from you guys, which would you most like to win?! Just click on your choice in the poll below!
Thanks so much for your help!
Saturday night marked the last wedding in our crazy 5 month streak with no weekend breaks, and I finally felt a real breath of air. Lungs expanding and contracting- a weight lifted.
For Aric & I…it literally has been nothing but go, go, go since April. And it’s one of the oddest feelings- to be so completely overwhelmed by the blessing of a flourishing business, and yet be so completely overwhelmed that it’s taken over life, and joy and excitement for what we do.
Finally, coming out the other side of this crazy season in our life, I feel a need to be renewed. A need to sit and not think, to do something unprofessional, be silly, relax.
Last night, Aric & I drove around Lubbock with the windows rolled down… (mainly because it was finally cool enough to be able to!) and as I breathed in the fresh air, felt the wind whip through my hair, and looked out to yet another beautiful west texas sunset, I was at peace.
This has been a crazy beautiful summer…and I’m so looking forward to what the fall has to offer…
I hope you’ll drive with the windows rolled down for a while today…it really does bring on a whole new perspective of life…

As the weeks have passed by faster and faster each one, I often run out of time in my day, run out of room on my to do list to keep up with our little blog!
So much is going on here at Aric + Casey Photography that I can hardly keep up!! But I wanted to give you guys a little update!
April & May were FULL of weddings and I’m slowly catching up to actually blog some favorite images from all of those!! On the other hand- June and July are FULL of weddings so I’m just trying to stay afloat!! We have the most wonderful clients! And I’m so thankful for each and every one of you! You all have been so patient and so encouraging and we just love you guys to pieces!!
Since lately I work better in lists- that is how the rest of this post will go!
1. Aric & I are officially an Aunt and Uncle!!!!!!!!!! It’s almost ridiculous how much I love and adore my baby niece! She makes the world stop and reminds me every day how beautiful life is! She has brought so much joy to our whole family!! My sister has done a great job of keeping us updated through her blog if you wanna check it out! Isn’t she the CUTEST?!?!
2. We SOLD our house!!! What a blessing!! It was only on the market for about a month and now the chaos ensues as we begin packing up our home and finding a new place to move all this month!!! (AH!!) A few people have asked if we were leaving Lubbock and the answer is NO!! I guess I should have clarified that before. But we are just moving to another home in Lubbock! Since we work from home and meet with clients in our home- we wanted to find a better space for that! So we are on the lookout!
3. In case you haven’t been to our website in a while- we have made a few changes! Some updates and I have started my own little division of the business just for me and all you girls!! I hope you’ll check it out…and help me spread the word!!
4. We have a new assistant!!!! Hooray!!! You might remember her from a shoot we did last year…We hired Kirby at the beginning of May and she has been helping us out tremendously! Plus it’s fun to have another girl in the office so we can veto Aric’s opinion on things! (haha…shhh, don’t tell him I said that!) She fun, creative, and hard-working- and I don’t think we would have survived May without her!
Everyone meet Kirby! (This was from the shoot we did with her and her now husband last year…we’ll have to take a more recent one soon! ;))
5. I can’t even think about anything else to write here, but I still thought we needed a #5! Happy Friday Everyone!
Where do I even begin with this post?! So many cool things about this beautiful couple!! From the first inquiry we got from Jenna to their sparkler grand exit every detail was beautifully thought out and perfectly executed.
Some people might think it’s crazy to start dating someone and be engaged/married in a matter of a few months, but not me, and not the friends and family of Jenna and Travis. They were meant to be, and although the timing hadn’t be right before, this time it was…so why wait?
I’ve never seen a couple look at each other the way these two do. Adoration, love, pride…it exudes from their eyes and their smiles when they look at or talk about each other. Apart from one another each one is strong, independent and successful and together they seem pretty much unstoppable.
I decided to split their posts up into 2 separate posts. I just couldn’t decide where to stop with the editing so I went a little crazy. This first post is the pre-ceremony, first look, ceremony and some portraits and the next post will be their reception and wedding details. Their wedding could possibly be my favorite one to date. And we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful Texas day than what they had. Everything was perfect…and I have the pictures to prove it!
Jenna looked STUNNING in this gorgeous dress!
While the girls get ready this is what the guys do.
Still workin’ on the details…
*Sigh* Their first look is the kind that will make your heart go pitter patter… so sweet and romantic…
That’s the Guadalupe River behind them. Their venue Marquardt Ranch was the perfect setting for their rustic wedding.
Some portraits… My favorite…
More on these details in the next post, but how much do you LOVE Jenna’s cotton bouquet and the cotton boutonnieres? Cotton is my new favorite wedding detail!
The GORGEOUS Bride
Told you she looked amazing in this dress…
They had the greatest wedding party!
Oh yes! We had celebrities there! Jenna was the 2004 Miss New Mexico and competed in the Miss USA pageant so it only made sense that one of her bridesmaids is this year’s 2011 Miss New Mexico! Can’t wait to see her compete in the Miss USA pageant! How cool!! And really? How beautiful are these girls?
Finally time for the ceremony…
I can’t even handle all their facial expressions during their ceremony. So much love…
Oh yes, my favorite ring bearer of all time. That’s Vinny! The sweetest, most precious and well behaved dog you will ever know. Adorable.
Again, greatest bridal party ever! And girls getting on the hay bales in your dresses? Total rockstars, love ya’ll for that!
Aaaand, I’ll end on this before we get to the reception!
Don’t judge me. I shamelessly watch “Keeping up with the Kardashians” and love it!
I’ll apologize in advance for the lack of blog posts! I’ve had to take a step away from the ol’ blog for a bit to clear my head. Oh yes, and do things like edit pictures for orders or albums instead of the blog… I’ll be the first to admit it’s hard to keep up. I feel like I’m still recovering from December and it’s already February. I’ll spend most of February recovering from January and the cycle continues…
We had some amazing weddings this month, along with the bridal show and prepping our house for the big remodel that may or may not happen in February. We have the whole month of February free of weddings and shoots so hopefully we can get the remodel done before the spring and summer wedding season begins!!
We will also be heading out to Florida with my sweet sister and her hubby for a little bit of relaxation in the middle of life’s craziness. I’m so looking forward to this trip. To spend time with my big sister, to leave the computer, email and cell phone at home and for just a few days really focus on what matters and unplug from twitter, facebook, blogs, etc. etc. I simply can’t keep up.
I’ll leave your with a couple teasers for now since no post is complete without one!
I’ll be back on the blogging train soon enough. Just need a breather and a chance to let some stress disappear! Thanks for sticking with me even though it’s been a while! I’ve gotten so many emails recently from wonderful blogstalkers who have been so encouraging! So thank you!
Happy Monday Everyone!
Finally a new blog post! The first one of 2011…trying to finish up the last of the 2010 weddings and then we started shooting again yesterday for our first wedding of the new year! It’s been a crazy couple of weeks, Christmas, New Year, Weddings, getting ready for the 2011 Bridal Fair this month, changing up our pricing and packages and talking through some changes we will be making with the new year. It’s all very exciting. All very overwhelming, and at the same time very humbling. It’s been nice to step back from things over the break and evaluate life and business, what’s been working and what hasn’t and most importantly finding a balance within all these things and creating new year’s resolutions to create a barrier between our work and personal life for our own sanity! So far these first 5 days of 2011 have been great. And I’ve been sticking to those resolutions! HAHA We’ll see how it goes from here, but for now I’m happy to share Becca & Tate’s beautiful wedding from December.
And seriously. These invitations? Are out of this world. If any of you have one of our business cards you know that we love letterpress… And these invitations are the ultimate letterpress wedding invitations! Amazing!
The girls got ready at a beautiful Overton Hotel suite, I loved Becca’s beautiful blue pumps and her fun tea length dress!
That’s Becca’s grandmother’s ring. Seriously gorgeous. As was the light in the room…
more details, details.
They got married and had their first look at the First United Methodist Church downtown. We took a few portraits with the gorgeous stained glass before the sun set.
And there’s the groom looking all handsome.
Love the feeling of anticipation in this one!
And of course the beautiful church.
Just a sweet moment during the reception…
Congrats you guys! Thanks so much for letting us be a part of your big day!
This is such a precious family! Matt & Meg are our gracious small group leaders, and it’s always a joy (when we actually get to make it when we are in town) to see sweet little Riley and their newest addition Piper. Riley is in LOVE with the camera!! And the camera pretty much loves her back! She would pose and giggle and was just the perfect little model! While Piper just wasn’t a big fan of the camera! 80% of her pictures she is sticking her tongue out at me! But it sure was precious!
Here are just a few of their pictures from their little mini family session! Enjoy!
Aric + Casey
Seriously?! LOVE their little hats!! So So adorable!
Sweet baby girl!
We had so much fun with this sweet family yesterday! Laura & Garrett are in our bible study and it was so fun to hang out with them and their adorable little boy, Finn. I’ve always had a huge appreciation for children’s photographers!! Seriously. Those guys have some major tricks up their sleeves to get cooperation out of little ones! We just kind of hung out and shot whatever Finn felt comfortable doing and lucky for us he warmed up to the camera after a while and not to mention this whole family is SO good looking it was easy to catch them all doing something cute at the exact same time! Haha!
It was the most beautiful day and I loved the colors in their outfits! Anyway, enjoy some of our favorites from their session!
Aric + Casey
LOVE this (below) It shows exactly what I imagine what these parents do most of the time…run after their little one! So funny!
Such a handsome little guy!
