It was so exciting to be a part of this wedding. When Shari messaged us about shooting a wedding for one of her friends in California- I was like umm…YES PLEASE. We had never met Corey or Crystal before, just a few emails back and forth and planning for their wedding-but really we didn’t know much about them. It didn’t take long, though, to learn.
As Crystal sat down to get her make-up done, she asked excitedly, “Do you know how we met?!?!” Usually that’s one of the first things I ask a couple, but it somehow slipped my mind during the planning process so I was thrilled that she was ready to tell me!! And so she did. She told me her love story. How they met, how they fell in love, and how they got to this, their wedding day. With the biggest smile on her face she finished saying…”And Corey is amazing, and he’s patient, and he’s kind, and he’s strong, and he’s funny, and he makes me laugh, and he’s handsome, and he’s smart, and he’s perfect…”
She could have gone on forever, describing her husband-to-be… She was proud to call him hers, and excited to finally be his wife, and their day was absolutely gorgeous.
They got married at the First United Methodist Church in Grass Valley, California, and they planned plenty of time for portraits of just the two of them. (My favorite!) So after their first look we hopped in our rental car and drove down to Empire Mine State Park. You just don’t see trees like that in Texas, and I could barely keep my jaw off the floor with how beautiful the scenery was. Aric & I were like kids in a candy store! (Which explains why most of this post is portraits… :))
Anywho, Congrats Crystal and Corey! Thanks so much for letting us be a part of your big day!!

The next 5 pictures are from their first look. Corey came up with the idea of having Crystal walk around a corner to see him, and I just love her demeanor of seeing her groom for the first time on their wedding day. It was so sweet!
quick shot in the car on the way to Empire Mine!
Corey gave his groomsmen the coolest gifts… Swords…and what’s for the best man, you ask? A bear head trophy…duh!!
love the mismatched rainboots! so fun!
dancing down the aisle after your wedding?! Yes please!
it started to sprinkle a little bit on our way over to the reception and I’m so glad I turned around to catch this!
